Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE)

Each year, the Lakeside High School Orchestra program participates in the Georgia Music Educators Association’s Large Group Performance Evaluation, commonly known as LGPE.

LGPE gives students the opportunity to perform for a panel of professional adjudicators and receive meaningful feedback on both prepared repertoire and sight-reading. Lakeside’s orchestras have consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to musical excellence, with the Advanced and Mastery Orchestras earning Superior ratings in recent years.

Through this experience, students strengthen their ensemble skills, technical accuracy, musical expression, confidence, and ability to collaborate as a group.

How LGPE Works

Students travel by school bus to the designated LGPE performance site. Each orchestra performs three prepared selections for a panel of adjudicators.

Following the stage performance, students participate in a sight-reading evaluation, during which they perform a piece of music they have not seen or rehearsed before.

After the evaluation, each orchestra receives written and recorded feedback, along with ratings that reflect the ensemble’s musical achievement, preparation, and continued growth.
